Hopeologist Rosalind Tompkins

Hi my name if Rosalind Tompkins and I change the world through hope.  I am an inspirational and influential Hopeologist® who’s passion in life is spreading hope and helping others to spread hope while tapping into their God given power, potential, and purpose.

I was twelve years old the first time I smoked a joint of marijuana. I didn’t know it then, but that was the beginning of a twelve-year addiction to drugs, that robbed me of all hope.

When I was nineteen years old and a sophomore at Florida State University, I was still using marijuana and I had added powder cocaine to the equation. I moved off campus with friends.  Big mistake, because we got high every day and I drank mushroom tea.  I didn’t know it at the time, but it’s a hallucinogenic drug and I began to hallucinate, I saw spiders and snakes and very dark shadows.  Even when I wasn’t “shrooning “as we called it, I had flashbacks.

The flashbacks got so bad until I ended up having psychotic breaks with reality.  By the grace of God and the help of my family, especially my mother, I made it through that ordeal and I regained hope for my future, only to have it dashed against the shores of my addiction as I continued to use drugs.

When crack-cocaine hit the streets, I started using it. During my brief time on crack I got pregnant and had a still born baby girl that I named Janadra Elizabeth. That was a hard time for me.

However, my turning point came a year after losing Janadra. I had stopped using everything but marijuana and I felt like things were finally looking up. I met a young man who was an officer in the Navy and I fell in love.

Our brief but powerful relationship resulted in my getting pregnant. I completely stopped using everything because I didn’t want to lose another baby because of my addiction. I had a healthy baby girl and I named her Janar.  Janar was my baby of hope.  Everything became shiny and new as I renewed my faith in God.

When I was only four years clean, I started Mothers In Crisis, Inc.  I have been clean and sober for over thirty years now and Mothers In Crisis’ has impacted over ten thousand families.  This has all been accomplished through the power of hope.  I will leave you with my trademarked saying “As Long As There Is Breath In Your Body, There Is Hope, And You Are Breathing!” Thank you! www.rosalindytompkins.com www.helpingotherspracticeempowerment.com
